Welcome to our eighth TULIPS (Thursday Updates & Logs Improving Platform Software)! You can read the previous one if you haven't yet.

These posts will be made whenever we have enough development updates to make a post, usually on Thursdays.

Live now

  • Third-party ads have begun to roll out. As we've previously announced, these low-impact ads will be shown in two existing sidebar square units and one of our mobile ads, and we're hoping they'll enable growing the platform's infrastructure, teams and services.
  • Links to missing categories are no longer suppressed in anonymous visits.
  • Broken image links are now suppressed in anonymous visits.
  • There is now a global interwiki prefix dlw: linking to the Default Loadout Wiki.
  • We recently reworked the code behind global Lua modules to let it load the code directly from our database servers.
    • Unfortunately, this change misdetermined databases for translation prefixes. This issue has been resolved.
    • Because of this problem, we had to disable this method of code-loading on the Oxygen Not Included wikis (where Lua from the Chinese wiki has been allowed). It has been now re-enabled.
  • Resolved an issue which prevented cross-wiki Lua module cache from being refreshed on edits.
  • Previously, Extension:RSS did not allow some safe HTML (e.g.  ) and escaped it resulting in some unfriendly text. We've updated the extension to generate excerpts instead. Please report any issues through our ticket system.
  • We've added Extension:InterwikiDispatcher to the platform. You can now link to wikis by writing [[wgg:nameofwiki:name of page]] without creating interwiki prefixes for what should be one-off links (where this format may be handy). For non-English wikis, type [[wgg:pl.nameofwiki:name of page]] where pl is the language code (in this example, it would be Polish).
    • We do not recommend this style of links if you link to the same wiki several times. In this case please use an actual interwiki prefix, which you can customize at Special:Interwiki .
    • Seriously, the only place you should really use this is the support wiki itself.
  • Global user groups are now listed at Special:UserRights.
  • Special:ListUsers now correctly shows members of global user groups.

Support wiki

There is now a friendly abuse filter on the support wiki that helpfully warns you if you create a new page on the support wiki and we think you may be in the wrong place. If you get this notice a lot and it bothers you please contact us in the wiki.gg Discord server (See the sidebar) and we will give you autopatrol rights! This filter is intended to help you, not to harm you. 🙂

Cargo

We are testing a change on the Hearthstone wiki that should improve Extension:Cargo performance. If this works well we'll roll it out to the entire platform.

Known issues

  • Extension:InputBox doesn't permit empty fields when editing a page with real-time previews.
