Description
Adds badges for UserGroups that a User is in
wiki.gg availability
This extension is installed by default on all wikis since 1.43. Admins can request this extension if their wiki does not have it.

The wiki.gg support wiki does not currently have documentation for UserBadges except to note its availability status.

The UserGroupBadges extension displays badges for users that are members of groups that have been given a display badge, each group may be given a single badge.

By default badges are given to wiki.gg staff, TITANs, and wiki.gg supporters. These badges help contributors identify members in these special groups that they may not already be familiar with, especially in cases where group members have access to assist with protected pages.

Adding custom badges

If you want to identify any special groups on your wiki to help them stand out from the rest then you can provide a badge to any group in your wiki (See Special:ListGroupRights).

To set a badge for a group simply requires editing MediaWiki:Group-${group}-badge (Eg; MediaWiki:Group-advocate-badge or MediaWiki:Group-bot-badge)

The page content can either be a data tag data:... (Eg data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,...) or a wiki File (With or without the File:/Media:/Image: namespace)

  • Note that badges are cached and may take some time to display the image after setting one.
  • If your wiki needs additional custom (permissionless) user groups only to show a badge, please submit a ticket to request one.

Pre-defined Badges

For an example see MediaWiki:Group-staff-badge which has the content File:Wiki.gg icon-pink.svg. This will display the wiki.gg logo next to staff members.
