Description | |
Adds back Edit links to unregistered users' article navigation when anonymous editing is disabled. | |
Default? |
Unregistered Edit Links is an extension that restores the Edit and Create links in the article navigation, so anonymous users do not get the impression the wiki is completely locked down and only editable by staff. However, instead of granting edit rights to anons, the links lead to Special:CreateAccount with a message explaining the redirection:
An account is required to edit pages on this Wiki.
If you already have one, please log in.
As of version 2.0.0, the links are labelled "Sign up to edit" and "Sign up to create". These can be customised by editing the unregistered-edit
and unregistered-create
system messages (however, translations should be done through the Weblate link below).
Once enabled, the changes will not be immediately visible to anonymous users unless HTML cache is purged.
Known issues
- Section edit links are not restored, and probably can't be without modifications to MediaWiki itself.
