Support wiki
This is the wiki.gg support wiki! It's a different site from your content wiki!
TULIPS/2026-02-05
Welcome to our 46th TULIPS (Thursday Updates & Logs Improving Platform Software)! You can read the previous one if you haven't yet.
These posts will be made whenever we have enough development updates to make a post, usually on Thursdays.
This is the first TULIPS of 2026, and also the first one in almost 2 months exactly! It's also the first one written by Mr Pie 5 instead of River, so I apologize if there are fewer exclamation points than you're used to.
Staff changes
I'm sure a lot of you already know, but alex, River, and Elm/Greg left wiki.gg during the last two months. In River's absence, Mr Pie 5 is taking over as the team lead. I would like to reiterate that they all left by choice and were not fired or laid off, and also that there's no bad blood between any of us. Details of why they left and what they're doing next are for them to share if they want to.
As a result of this, the upgrade to MediaWiki 1.45 is on hold indefinitely. Our parent company indie.io has loaned us some backend folks to keep the servers running and handle things like extension requests and account closures, but we need dedicated backend development staff with a lot of knowledge of MediaWiki and the wiki.gg platform in order to pursue significant developments, especially one as big as a MediaWiki version upgrade.
If you have experience with backend development and MediaWiki and are interested in joining the team, please contact Mr Pie 5. We would prefer to pull people from our community rather than hire externally if possible.
We also welcomed GroundedAura to the team!
Live now
Backend development may be on hold, but we're not completely stagnant. There are several developments to DLW and supported gadgets to report.
DLW
- Several templates have been updated with minor accessibility improvements provided via ticket:
- DLW CSS improvements:
- The rules for logo positioning have been adjusted to make it easier for users to add styles to the logo.
- The default values of some CSS variables have been tweaked to make them more adaptable.
- The rules for Cargo table header have been tweaked to avoid flickering before JavaScript.
UploadMultipleFiles improvements
- UI cleaned up a little bit
- Uploads 3 files at a time instead of just one
- Files that have warnings will now stop uploading, show the warning, and have an option to ignore and upload anyways
- In some cases, this option will also appear for failed uploads
- Now warns for existing files with the same name, so you know you're reuploading
- Checkbox option to ignore all warnings
IMP
- The
centered-contentclass has been renamed tovertical-centerso it's clearer what it does. The old class name is kept in the CSS for backwards compatibility. - Fix for mp-links overriding redlnk color, and for some rules not applying when editing boxes versus viewing the full main page. (diff)
- Minor typo fix on Category:Pages_using_IMP
- Module:Main page now has a fallback to
#vardefineif VariablesLua isn't installed. This shouldn't matter on wiki.gg, but it makes IMP a little more portable to other environments. (diff) - mp-links now support nesting, using the standard MediaWiki nested list syntax. This is experimental, not yet fully documented, and only intended to be used in combination with the
columns-1,side-image, andleftclasses. See User:Mr Pie 5/sandbox/imp/nested list for an example.
RANGER
- It is now allowed to pass dataTree directly to the render() method of RANGER from other modules.
- The documentation on customizing RANGER has been added on support wiki. See RANGER navboxes#Customization
Known issues
- Trying to use VisualEditor on a page with a TableChecklist gives an error "Revision IDs returned by the server do not match"
- When uploading images via VisualEditor, it will try to insert them with a name in the form of
<timestamp>!chunkedupload <hash>. The image is still uploaded under the correct name, but editors will have to correct the name that VE inserts onto the page. <summary>will add unwanted spacing if it includes anything other than plain text, such as links.- The "Expand all" and "Collapse all" buttons that appear in the sidebar when pages have collapsibles will remove its inner
<span>when clicked, which could cause issues on some wikis that customize their sidebar.
WE DID THIS
- User:Mourten made a set planner on the Crystal Realms Wiki. This lets you create and outfit a character, set a pose, and download a png image of it. It even works on mobile! Check it out: CR Set Planner
- The Witchfire Wiki fancied up their table of contents. Credits: User:Hazelnut Check out Ricochet for an example.
- Icarus Wiki set up some DataMaps as a sort of mirror of IcarusIntel, which has been a bit overwhelmed by a surge of new players. See Olympus, Styx, and Prometheus.
- Mewgenics Wiki recently passed the 500 article mark!
- This was already mentioned in the announcements channel, but happy 20th anniversary to the South Park Wiki!
