Welcome to our fourteenth TULIPS (Thursday Updates & Logs Improving Platform Software)! You can read the previous one if you haven't yet.

These posts will be made whenever we have enough development updates to make a post, usually on Thursdays.

Bugfixes

  • Resolved an issue where saving pages with InputBox while having real-time (side-by-side) previews enabled required typing something into the input box.
    • Hooray! Our "known issues" section in TULIPS is now empty!
  • Resolved an issue which sometimes caused ?format=original (in an image's URL) to not take effect.
    • Note: Due to another issue you DID actually get PNG instead of WebP (which are all lossless if auto-generated), but only sometimes. Don't worry, it's all good now.
  • Attempted to fix misaligned icons on the netbar and hopefully it's correct!
    • Please tell us if it's still misaligned
  • Deployed some GlobalPermissions optimizations to decrease load on our cache servers.
  • To reduce confusion, the message shown when trying to edit pages while logged out no longer lists wiki.gg staff as one of the groups with sufficient rights.
  • "Sign up to edit" is no longer incorrectly shown on admin- and staff-protected pages.
  • Fixed some bugs in GlobalMessages.
  • Notifications are no longer issued to usernames that have not been reclaimed yet (this is a performance improvement for us)
  • Fixed an issue where freshly created translation wikis would act as if they were in onboarding.
  • Fixed an issue which caused indie.io-provided ads to display in place of external ads on newly released wikis.

IMP

We launched a new main page framework called IMP (IMProved Main Page)! Everyone tell Mr Pie 5 thanks for building it yayyyyyyyy

  • IMP has A LOT of dependencies and we do not recommend importing it to existing wikis at this time, we'll hopefully create some packaging system in the near future that makes it easier
  • IMP is now live on all new wikis created with the DLW (Default Loadout Wiki)
  • We also fixed some IMP bugs that were happening after launch:
  • Editing IMP boxes issues a cache refresh to the wiki's main page even though each section is now its own template
  • The latest version of IMP is also fully compatible with non-English wikis! (There's a "create page" link in some circumstances that was not working due to namespace differences)

GPS

  • Resolved some issues that sometimes caused GPS (Guided Publication Setup)'s icons not to be displayed.
  • We are still working on improving the GPS task list, especially now that IMP exists.
  • Adjusted the way FAQ questions in Guided Publication Setup are handled. Paragraphs should be now inserted properly.

Tickets

  • Automated responses to tickets should now be more helpful.
  • You can no longer unsubscribe from notifications to tickets, because we had several instances of people clicking "unsubscribe" instead of "view ticket" (oops!) (the link for unsubscribe was really long)

IRC update

  • We now have a #wikigg-rcfeed channel on Libera Chat which can be used as a single source of recent changes from the network. This is primarily provided for edit monitoring bots.

Planned platform improvements

  • We are planning to do a feedback survey around the end of the year. The feedback surveys will be called SATELLITEs (Surveys As Tools to Enhance Little & Large Interactions Targeting Everyone)! As the name implies we will be soliciting feedback from everyone, no matter if you edit or not! Stay tuned!

Wiki shoutouts

This is a new feature! To be included here, ping River! (for now) (we may have a more organized system in the future depending on volume)

  • The Concord wiki has finished their main page! Even though the game was taken offline, they did an AMAZING job on their wiki, check it out and cheer for them!
