Google Analytics access

From Support Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

On request, we can grant Google Analytics (GA) access to wiki admins. This is a privilege and not a right. If you are granted access, please do not share any specific numbers in any public locations. You can share recent trends such as, "The page about Evelynn is doing really well recently" or "Lots of visits from that new YouTube video!" but you may not share pageview counts, session counts, user counts, etc.

If a trusted editor asks for data points of interest (for example, a list of high-traffic pages they should patrol), you may share that in private, but use your judgment (and don't share specific numbers). It's also allowed to publish a list of high-traffic pages (but not including traffic numbers) in a semipublic space such as a wiki Discord server or a wiki channel in a game's Discord server.

When in doubt, err on the side of caution and ask wiki.gg staff for clarification. We reserve the right to revoke anyone's access to analytics at any time for any reason.

Notes

  • Google Analytics undercounts certain types of users, such as those who use privacy extensions and Firefox users (Firefox blocks a number of trackers by default).
  • Wikis will be grouped by subdomain, so multiple wikis of the same language family will be combined, for example support.wiki.gg and support.wiki.gg/es are part of the same GA property.
