Support wiki
This is the wiki.gg support wiki! It's a different site from your content wiki!
Closing a wiki
This page explains the procedure for closing a wiki on wiki.gg and what the criteria are to be eligible for a wiki closure. Please note that every single situation of wiki closure is unique (just like every application to open a wiki), so we can't make any guarantees about any situation without seeing the request first.
How to request a wiki closed
To request that we close a wiki, please fill out our Wiki closure form. In some cases we may ask for additional information; for example, if you tell us that a large wiki is forking and we can't find evidence that this is true, we might ask where you're forking to, in order to verify that this is a legitimate request. We may also update the wiki closure procedure and requirements from time to time.
When we will close a wiki
Generally speaking, we will close wikis if:
- The wiki as a whole clearly breaks our TOS and this can't be remedied by reverting, deleting part of the content, or by taking other steps to remediate the issue(s)
- The wiki has almost no content and has not been edited since release (we may close such wikis without any request)
- The wiki's community has unanimously or nearly-unanimously decided to fork, and the new wiki is live and active (this will be approved on a case-by-case basis)
- The wiki requestor changes their mind about having a wiki, and the wiki is unused/has no content/isn't published yet
When we will not close a wiki
Generally speaking, we will NOT close wikis if:
- Someone unrelated to the game or IP tells us they don't like a wiki
- The admin group fractures, and some people decide to fork while some people don't want to fork and there is a lot of community drama over what should be done
- The wiki requestor changes their mind about having a wiki, but the wiki has had other contributors and/or is being used by the community
Acting in good faith
What we will do is act in good faith. Our goal is to respect the community's wishes as long as it's clear what these wishes are, and that the request is also being made in good faith.
