If you are a wiki admin, you can request analytics access by sending a ticket. Once added, you will receive an email stating that you now have access to sign into Google Analytics to view the website data.

Viewing the data

The analytics page gives many details about the audience which visits your wiki. You can look at which country your wiki is visited the most at, what browser/mobile % users your wiki attracts,... You can go to the left-hand side of website and click on "Reports" link, which links you to a more detailed view of which page is the most popular, how many event clicks your wiki generated, etc. It's a great way to expand lower traffic articles or find a way to integrate low traffic articles in your top traffic articles to keep and retain retention.

Browse the website, and just understand how your wiki really works. Remember, half the audience views wikis on mobile so why not make that experience a great one for them to view/read content.

Retention

Retention is a driving factor on how your wiki performs and how search engines can provide more relevant data from your wiki to your viewers. You can retain retention by doing a few things that all have a meaningful impact.

1) Integrating Articles

Look at your analytic data to see which articles are performing the worst. Here you can find a way to integrate links in your high traffic articles which lead into your low traffic articles.

2) Navigation Boxes

Navigation boxes are a great way to help viewers find data in an easy and organized way. Normally found on the bottom of an article, these boxes provide relevant data about the current topic or general game overview in terms of mechanics or in-game data.

3) Infoboxes

Portable infoboxes are a great way to display data in an easy way, although keep it short and concise. If you need to display more data about that specific content, move it into a table so that you can explain the content in text also for SEO purposes.

1. Be sure you have requested access to analytics for your wiki from wiki.gg staff if you're an admin.
2. Visit: https://lookerstudio.google.com/
3. Link your Google Analytics
4. Create blank report
5. Press 'Add a chart'
6. Time Series > Time series chart
7. Data
   1. Dimension: Month
   2. Metric: Views
   3. Default data range: Custom
      1. Click 'Fixed'
      2. Select when you first migrated/created the wiki on the platform
      3. Select the to the end the calendar year.
         Example: January 28th 2023 to December 31st 2023
   4. Press Apply and let data populate.

You can do the same with:

• 'Page title' to generate the top pages of that calendar year.
  • Chart: Table
• 'Views' to generate the total views of that calendar year.
  • Chart: Scorecard
• 'Event count' to generate the total of clicks the wiki had of that calendar year.
  • Chart: Scorecard

Comparing data

In your Lookerstudio report, find a table/chart, and in 'Properties' in the 'Default data range' category, find 'Comparison data range.' Instead of clicking 2023, now put January 2024 to December 2024.

With this data, you can now compare statistics on how well your wiki is performing compared to the previous year.
